In this spotlight, we talk with her about how she got started in property management, what advice she always gives to property owners, and what makes working in Waco so special. From helping tenants feel at home to guiding owners through challenges ahead, LaShonda reminds us why great management goes far beyond just collecting rent!
How did you get started and what’s your favorite part of working in property management?
I got my start in real estate while buying my own home, when my realtor suggested I might be great at it myself. At the time, I was also working in property management, helping people find apartments to rent. I quickly realized how much I enjoyed connecting people with the right home. Every day brings a new challenge and a new opportunity to help someone find exactly what they’re looking for.
What’s one piece of advice you always give to property owners?
A happy tenant stays longer, takes better care of the space, and is more likely to pay on time. Clear communication, fair treatment, and responsiveness go a long way.

What’s a common misconception about property management, and how do you address it?
One of the most common misconceptions about property management is that it’s just about collecting rent. Addressing this happens through education. During onboarding, we walk property owners through the full scope of services we provide.
What do you think will be the biggest challenge for property owners in the next 5 years? How can they address it?
Rising interest rates, insurance costs, and property taxes. Getting proactive with financial planning and planning for unpredictability are great ways to get ahead of these challenges. Revisit insurance and utility contracts for better deals.
What do you find most rewarding about helping property owners and tenants?
It’s incredibly rewarding to help owners grow their investments. With tenants is rewarding to help families move into a safe, well-maintained space, or resolving an issue quickly and respectfully.
