Tell us a little bit about yourself and your leasing management background.
I’m from Temple, and what I love most about living here is how it blends the best of both worlds — you get that balance of city convenience and small-town comfort. I’ve been in management for over 20 years, both in the restaurant industry and in residential leasing. Across both fields, my focus has always been on people. I want every customer, client, or tenant to walk away with a great experience. There’s nothing better than seeing someone’s face light up when they step into their new apartment and realize it’s going to be home.
What’s your day-to-day like as the leasing manager at The Hawn Plaza?
I’m here to highlight what’s new and exciting about downtown Temple and The Hawn Plaza, while making sure every prospective tenant feels heard and supported. That includes replying quickly to questions, giving building tours, meeting with tenants, and keeping an eye on property upkeep. My goal is to make the leasing process smooth and enjoyable.
What makes The Hawn Plaza special compared to other properties in Temple?
The Hawn Plaza is unique because it blends historic charm with modern living. You get the character of a landmark building, but with the comforts people want today. Tenants love the view and walking distance to everything while still feeling safe and at home. The police station is right around the corner, which gives a lot of peace of mind.
What types of tenants do you usually work with, both residential and commercial?
On the residential side, we see a wide range from young professionals and students to retirees who want a low-maintenance lifestyle in a vibrant area. On the commercial side, the building attracts small business owners and entrepreneurs who want to take advantage of the foot traffic and energy of downtown Temple.
What’s one thing prospective renters are often surprised to learn about The Hawn Plaza?
People are often surprised to learn that every apartment has its own washer and dryer — no shared laundry rooms here!
Do you have any advice for someone looking at their first apartment or office in downtown Temple?
My advice is to take your time to look at all the floor plans and amenities, and really consider how the space and the neighborhood fit your lifestyle or business. Can you see yourself living here? If the answer is yes, then you’ve found the right spot. For anyone considering downtown Temple, I truly believe The Hawn Plaza is one of the best places to start.
What’s your favorite part about working at The Hawn Plaza?
I love that I get to be part of Temple’s revitalization story. It’s really rewarding to show people this historic building and say, “Look at what’s been created here.” The Hawn Plaza is beautiful, it’s functional, it’s helping bring new life to downtown Temple, and I’m proud to share that with people every day.
Are there any local Temple spots you always recommend to new tenants?
Definitely! I always recommend trying local favorites like Pignetti’s for a great meal, and I encourage everyone to check out First Friday events downtown. It’s a perfect way to meet people, enjoy the community, and get a real feel for Temple’s growing energy.
If someone is interested in leasing, what’s the best next step?
The next step is simple: come take a tour! Once you walk the halls, see the apartments, and take in the energy of downtown, you’ll understand why people love living here.
